Lewis Hamilton has hit the Met Gala 2025 red carpet wearing a striking pair of glittering brooches.
For 2025, the theme of the Met Gala is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, inspired by the work of Monica Miller, a leading scholar of contemporary African American and Afro-diasporic literature and culture, and her 2009 work, ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’.
Previous themes have ranged from ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ (2015) – which examined the influence of Chinese art, film and culture on Western fashion – and ‘Camp’ (2019), to ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ from last year’s event.
This year, Hamilton acted as co-chair of the event, alongside A$AP Rocky, actor Colman Domingo – who wowed earlier in the evening with a look combining Valentino and Boucheron – multi-hyphenate singer Pharrell Williams, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and honorary co-chair, the athlete LeBron James.
Hamilton, coming to the event straight from his weekend stint at the Miami GP, wore some a custom made lapel pin by British designer Wales Bonner – one the brand’s very first iterations of fine jewellery – produced in partnership with lab-grown diamond company SNOW Diamonds, with pearls and emerald-cut stones in garnet, white, and amber.
On his hat, the F1 champion sported a vintage 1980s floral brooch from Briony Raymond with fancy white, yellow and pink diamonds. He also wore Briony Raymond Asscher cut diamond stud earrings in 18 carat white gold.
Hamilton’s fashion look for the night was created by Wales Bonner who was herself on the Met committee this year and has several works in this year’s exhibition.
Speaking to Vogue about Hamilton’s look, she said: “For Lewis’s look, we brought together a range of influences, from Barkley L. Hendricks paintings, to Black spiritual dressing and some of the brand’s craft signatures. There are stories told through jewell adornments and special trims, with symbolism in baobab flower motifs and natural materials like cowrie shells and mother of pearl buttons.”

Elsewhere in other Met Gala news, A$AP Rocky was spotted wearing some standout vintage pieces also from Briony Raymond.
A$AP wore a Briony Raymond Slim Sloan Ring in 18 carat rose gold, a Fancy Brown Diamond Sloan Suspended Ring – also in 18 carat rose Gold.
He teamed this with an antique Georgian cuff which dates back to around 1810, in 19 carat yellow gold. Alongside this he added an Edwardian diamond and seed pearl brooch in platinum alongside some diamond button estate earrings in 18 carat yellow gold.
Colman Domingo also made headlines wearing a custom Valentino look alongside some Boucheron, while a brooch specially created for the Met Gala with a diamond worth $20 million also got its first outing.
