Today marks the 42rd birthday of Prince William, the eldest son of King Charles III and Diana, Princess of Wales and heir apparent to the British throne.
When it comes to his choice of wristwatch, Prince William has long favoured a single timepiece: the Omega Seamaster. In fact, the royal is rarely seen without the £3,000 model on his wrist, which Omega first launched in 1948.
The watch is not only unique for its storied history, but also the sentimental value it possesses for the prince.

The watch was a gift from his late mother, Princess Diana before she passed away in 1997.
The royal wore it on his wedding day when he tied the knot with Kate Middleton and has worn it on nearly every engagement since.
Although the future king could most definitely afford an upgrade, he chooses to wear the classic watch for its emotional value.

In terms of its design, William’s quartz-powered Seamaster Professional 300M features a blue date dial, a chronometer, a screw-in crown, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and a helium-escape valve. The dial is covered with sapphire crystal, resistant to scratches, and the wristband is made from stainless steel

The Omega Seamaster isn’t the only watch Prince William owns, however. The royal has also been photographed wearing a Garmin Forerunner 245 smartwatch on one wrist, with his trusty Omega strapped to the other.
Prince William isn’t the first royal to wear two watches at the same time, either. Princess Diana was also seen rocking two timepieces on occasion, including at a polo match in Windsor in 1981.
As Prince William’s watch from Omega holds sentimental value and is a classic style of watch, it’s unlikely he wants to forsake wearing it in favour of a less timeless model. His Garmin is a lifestyle choice, however, allowing the royal to keep tabs on his exercise, including heart rate monitoring and run tracking.
