Tom Holland attended the London premiere of his latest blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, wearing an opal set spider brooch by English jewellers Pragnell. Get all the details on the stunning jewel below.
While London sizzled in the grip of yet another heatwave, the stars of Spider-Man: Brand New Day rocked the red carpet in Leicester Square with plenty of cool-looking jewellery.
Tom Holland and Zendaya, in particular, stayed perfectly on theme in his-and-hers matching spider brooches. Holland’s piece was a one-of-a-kind creation by family jewellers Pragnell, and was conceived especially for Holland by Charlie Pragnell.
Inspired by a vintage piece owned by Charlie’s mother, Jane Pragnell (who likes to wear it on her shoulder), the jewel boasts articulated legs with delicate hinge-joint detailing in yellow gold – a nod to the retractable mechanical limbs of Spider Man’s Iron Spider suit.
It also features a vivid blue-green diamond as a tribute to the radioactive spider bite that gave Peter Parker his incredible powers. This kind of diamond receives its colour due to exposure to natural radiation in the Earth’s crust, millions of years ago.
The arachnid’s abdomen, meanwhile, is set with a super rare 5.114-carat untreated Australian black opal, with a ‘harlequin’ colour way showing flashes of of red, blue, orange and green – a creative homage to the otherworldly nature of Peter Parker’s supernatural gifts.
“The Pragnell Spider-Brooch displays exceptional traditional British craftsmanship, original human design and the rarest of nature’s gems. The design of this jewel became a particularly special project because it involved three generations of our family,” says Charlie Pragnell. “It was a wonderful commission from Tom Holland, a good friend and a true modern-day British hero – he is definitely ‘one of the good guys’.’
Zendaya, meanwhile, matched her man with yellow gold spider on the reverse of her shimmering cream gown from Tamara Ralph’s fall 2026 haute couture collection (a big departure from her dark and deadly look for the movie’s Los Angeles premiere). The little beastie was originally part of a spiderweb headpiece by jeweller Keren Wolf. The star complemented her shimmering look with diamond drop earrings and a ring by Mouawad.
