TAG Heuer have unveiled their latest watch, the Monaco Speed 12, and appropriately, it will be launched at this weekend’s Formula One Grand Prix in the French principality.
Building on TAG’s decades long association with motorsport, the Monaco Speed 12 is a limited edition piece that takes inspiration from the twelve cylinder engine by having twelve incredibly striking pistons encircle the dial. Each piston represents an hour, encapsulating this daring take on the jumping hour movement.
TAG Heuer have created the Monaco Speed 12 in collaboration with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Using the Spin Time movement created by Vuitton, TAG make full use of the innovation for this is a one-of-a-kind creation and collaboration.

The Monaco, is of course, one of TAG’s most iconic models, and the Speed 12 is a worthy new entry into this great canon. Manufactured out of grade five titanium, the design of the dial is firmly within the boundaries of what you would expect from the Monaco, but the rotating pistons on the black dial elevate the watch and emphasise both the mechanical history of the model and technical ingenuity on display.
The mechanical theme is furthered by the open workings on the dial which allow the wear to see into the magic behind what makes the Monaco tick.
Just 50 of the Monaco Speed 12 will be created, each individually numbered, which is going to make this a hot collector’s item, especially with the splashy launch at the Grand Prix. The watch will retail for £66,000.
The official timekeeper of both Formula One and the Red Bull team, TAG Heuer have a deep history with the world of motorsport.
The brand also recently released a special watch celebrating the Indy 500, where they are also the official timekeeper.
The all-new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Sonograph x Indy 500 watch honours the famous annual automobile race, known as ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ by its fans. Only 1,100 pieces will be made available worldwide by the Swiss watch giant.
The reverse of the watch features a prominent bricks pattern which is a nod to legendary ‘Yard of Bricks’ – the 36-inch strip of bricks that extends entirely across the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track.
The watch also represents the first time both Formula 1 and the Indy 500 have been celebrated on the same watch.
