Light the candles, slice up the cake… it’s Timothée Chalamet’s birthday. And in honour of the talented Call Me By Your Name, Dune and Wonka actor’s big day, we’re counting down some of the most memorable and fabulous pieces from inside his jewellery box from his custom made Cartier necklace to brooches and pearl strings… because why not?
In Rome for a Bones & All event, 2022

Chalamet’s appearance in a pearl necklace accented with tiny bones at a Roman photocall for his 2022 film, Bones & All (which reunited him with his Call Me By Your Name director, Luca Guadagnino) helped to reignite the trend for men in pearls. The piece was by Vivienne Westwood and built on a theme he established at the London premiere of the same film.

Timmy also added a dash of dark humour to his cream Alexander McQueen suit at the London premiere of Bones & All with a sparkling femur bone necklace by Vivienne Westwood, which sat temptingly close to his throat (a cheeky nod to the cannibalistic theme of the film, perhaps?)
At the Willy Wonka Global Premiere, 2023

Chalamet has continued to pair his premiere jewels to the theme of his films over the years. At the London debut of Wonka, for example, the star donned an exquisite custom Cartier necklace crafted from white gold and nearly 1,000 colourful gemstones including juicy-hued emeralds, vibrant pink tourmalines, rosy rubellites, and milky-looking blue opals. In total, it took Cartier’s craftsmen 450 hours to make.
At the Academy Awards, 2020

Chalamet definitely helped to kickstart our current (and unending) obsession with men in brooches at red carpet events. The vintage Cartier Tradition brooch he used to adorn his Prada jacket at the 2020 Oscars dated from 1955.
At the Venice Film Festival, 2021

Chalamet’s brilliant brooch moves continued at the 2021 Venice Film Festival, where he channelled the desert theme of his latest film, Dune, in a Cartier Insecte Bionique brooch from 1999 adorned with smoky quartz, and a platinum pin from 1913 embellished with diamonds and pearls. He was named a ‘friend’ of the French jewellery house that same year.
At the Academy Awards, 2022

Another one of Timmy’s memorable jewellery (and fashion) moments occurred on the red carpet at the 2022 Oscars, when the actor posed in a sequinned black Louis Vuitton suit (minus shirt) with a couple of fabulously layered Cartier necklaces and fingers laden with diamond-adorned Cartier rings.
