Les Berlingots de Cartier is a delectable treat. In France, the name Berlingot brings back childhood memories to many. There, it is the name of a well-known sweet, a hard candy made from caramel. And it is also in France that the Berlingot has recently found a new guise.
In Paris, on Place Vendôme, Cartier now renders the Berlingot’s signature shape, replete with two pyramid ends, in precious metals and gems.
The master jeweller’s Les Berlingots de Cartier collection comprises a quartet of rings, cast from white, yellow or rose gold. At each ring’s centre sits a rectangular stone – the choice includes cloudy, pale blue or pink chalcedony, onyx and malachite – bookended in tiny pyramids that end in sharp points and are each set with a dozen brilliant-cut white diamonds.
Each ring is mirrored with a matching pendant necklace fitted with an adjustable chain. Elsewhere, 240 brilliant-cut white diamonds dazzle on a pendant, matched with a white gold chain dotted with onyx.
