The 2026 FIFA World Cup ended with Lionel Messi in floods of tears and Spain captain, Rodri, lifting the Jules Rimet trophy following five weeks of high drama, drinks breaks and more England heartbreak.
With Ferran Torres’ expertly slotted winner in extra-time, the Spain team were awarded medals by divisive FIFA head Gianni Infantino and equally divisive USA president, Donald Trump, who then stood awkwardly by as the squad celebrated.
But as well as the traditional medals, FIFA put one more American twist on the proceedings – after ill-received half-time shows, wildly expensive tickets and essentially splitting the game into quarters. The winning team also received rings.
Spain received a total of 30 rings to be dished out among the playing squad and coaching staff with the pieces customised like they are for Super Bowl winners. While Rodri and Spain coach Luis de la Fuente received temporary rings, there will be a formal ceremony to present them at a later date.

The rings feature the World Cup trophy engraved on the side but the full-design of the rings to be awarded to Spain has not yet revealed however the jewellery will feature motifs related to the winning country.
FIFA are also releasing World Cup winners rings to the public. Including the 30 pieces being manufactured for Spain, a total of 2,026 rings will be made with 1,996 to be put up for sale.
The rings will be crafted from 18k gold, while featuring 89 diamonds and 36 sapphires.
With all that bling, the rings will not come cheap and will be available for sale for a staggering £112,000.
While winners rings are commonplace in American sport, with Super Bowl rings reported to cost around $50,000 each to manufacture, this is the first time a major football event has been celebrated with championship rings.Away from the pitch, it’s been a big World Cup for watches.
Drake stopped by the clash between Portugal and Croatia in his native Toronto wearing an extremely limited Richard Mille timepiece. Only 30 of the Tourbillon Fleur have ever been made and Champagne Papi, with his keen eye for brash and complex timepieces, made sure he laid his hands on one. Originally retailing for just under $300,000, the watch is thought to be worth around ten times that on the rare occasion they come to market.
Elsewhere, David Beckham, a longtime ambassador for Tudor, attended the Argentina versus Cape Verde match sporting one of the brand’s latest and most impressive models – the Black Bay Chrono in a Bumblebee colourway.
And Jay-Z, who has also been performing his 30th anniversary concerts in New York alongside Beyoncé and Rihanna, was seen in one of the rarest pieces in the entire Audemars Piguet canon. This particular reference was released back in 1997 and is made from the rare and unique combination of tantalum and platinum. Only 16 were ever manufactured and JAY-Z casually brought his out to watch Ivory Coast play Ecuador.
