Just as we’d hoped, there was plenty of sparkle to be seen on the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala (and plenty of fabulous surprises, too).
With the theme of ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, and a dress code of ‘tailored for you’, we were expecting some sophisticated and stylish outfits on the night, accessorised with plenty of glittering accessories – and the style fairies duly delivered! Here’s who we spotted and what they were wearing…
Pharrell Williams

One of the event’s co-chairs, Williams arrived in a luminous double-breasted, cropped evening jacket hand-crafted entirely in interlaced white pearls from Louis Vuitton, where the star is creative director of menswear. He paired this with his signature gold grill and a pair of yellow diamond stud earrings.
On his hand (but sadly not in this photo) Williams wore his favourite Tiffany & Co ‘Coronation’ ring, which he had custom-made in 18k gold and diamonds, with a central yellow diamond over 20 carats. He debuted the same ring at the Telluride Film Festival last year (you can take a closer look at it here).
Colman Domingo

Williams’ fellow co-chair Colman Domingo arrived wearing a theatrical cape created especially for him by Alessandro Michele at Valentino (in blue, Domingo’s mother’s favourite colour). To this, the actor added a white gold and mother-of-pearl ‘Padma Nacre’ earring from Boucheron’s 2022 high jewellery collection, ‘New Maharajas’, and the maker’s spectacular white gold, rock crystal and diamond ‘Iceberg’ high jewellery necklace, from the 2024 ‘Carte Blanche: Or Bleu’ high jewellery collection.

Later, Domingo removed the cape and paired his natty Valentino suit with more Boucheron jewels, including a white gold ‘New Padma Cristal’ ring, set with rock crystal, cacholong opal and diamonds, and a white gold Plume de Paon ring, set with a 34.01 carat cushion-cut rubellite. As a finishing touch, a pair of yellow gold ‘Serpent Boheme Solarité’ asymmetrical diamond stud earrings sparkled in his ears, while an as-yet-unreleased Omega Speedmaster watch in 18k gold gleamed on his wrist.
Halle Berry
The divine Ms Berry arrived in a show-stopping set of new jewels by Cartier. Her ‘Tsagaan’ high jewellery necklace and earrings were crafted in 18k white gold, diamonds and onyx and named for Mongolian word for a snow leopard – the necklace alone took an extraordinary 1336 hours to make. Berry finished her look with a clutch of high jewellery Cartier rings, all in white gold, onyx and diamonds – one featuring an enormous central sugarloaf emerald.
Lauryn Hill

A personal guest of Pharrell Williams, Hill sported a suite of jewels, including earrings, a ring and a necklace, by the British Ghanaian jewellery artist and V&A jewellery curator Emefa Cole, who created the look using SMO Gold responsibly sourced from West Africa which is fully traceable to a single mine in Côte d’Ivoire. The voluminous pieces all paid homage to Ghanaian Royalty. Plus, she kept her cool all night with a gilded electric fan.
Nicole Kidman
Kidman added a flash of bright colour to her monochrome gown with a bouquet of botanical-inspired emerald and diamond jewels from art jeweller, Cindy Chao. She picked the ‘Four Seasons Foliage Earrings, plus the matching bangle and an ‘Emerald Flora Ring’, all from the maker’s White Label Collection.
On her wrist, the long-time Omega ambassador opted for a vintage timepiece, the 1969 Ladymatic ‘Saphette’, crafted in 18K white gold with a delicate black corded fabric bracelet. Its name refers to the watch’s sparkling sapphire crystal face, which is faceted like a diamond solitaire.
Kim Kardashian

While the month-long trial against the men who robbed Kardashian of jewels worth millions of dollars in 2016 rumbles on, the star herself made her love of bling clear on the red carpet. Kardashian embellished her all-leather look with a suite of diamond high jewellery from London-based jeweller Moussaieff, including a diamond choker, fringe necklace, line necklace, matching earrings and a ring. An extra flourish came courtesy of a pear-cut diamond Boucheron ring.
Kendall Jenner

Kim’s sister Kendall simply shone in a Chopard white gold and diamond necklace featuring a central 12.37-carat stone. To this she added white gold and diamond earrings and two white gold and diamond rings from the maker’s Haute Joaillerie Collection.
Chance the Rapper
We hoped we’d get elegant brooches galore at the Met Gala and we got our wish courtesy of Chance the Rapper, who embellished his Versace suit with a clutch of Jean Schlumberger pins from Tiffany & Co – including a rubellite and diamond ‘Daisy Bud’ brooch, a ‘Starlight’ brooch with an imperial topaz weighing over 25 carats, a diamond ‘Flames’ brooch and a ‘Peapod’ brooch in yellow gold with cultured pearls.
Additionally, the rapper wore a new Tiffany & Co. ‘Bird on a Rock’ watch in white gold with pink sapphires and diamonds, a clutch of white and yellow gold Tiffany bracelets, diamond stud earrings and a Tiffany Titan diamond ring designed by none other than Pharrell Williams.
Jon Batiste
More excellent brooch action came courtesy of musician Jon Batiste, who elevated his polka dot Tom Ford suit with a sparkly floral lapel pin, plus a handful of gold jewellery by Cartier, including a new gold and spessartite-striped Panthère de Cartier watch.
Alton Mason
The model and dancer wowed onlookers in a custom Boss outfit, which he bedazzled with a custom eye patch embellished with Swarovski crystals by New York jeweller Chris Habana, diamond grillz, diamond earrings and a fistful of statement rings, including an astonishing emerald pinky ring by Aloklodha Jewels.
Cynthia Erivo

Wicked star Erivo didn’t need much extra bling to complement her shimmering gala outfit, but opted for a few strategically-placed diamonds, including a ring and ear climbing earrings, from Bucherer Fine Jewellery.
Lewis Hamilton

Co-chair Hamilton embellished his snow-white Wales Bonner suit with a pair of standout brooches. His elegant lapel pin was a custom piece, also by British designer Grace Wales Bonner, and represents her brand’s very first foray into the world of fine jewellery. It was produced in partnership with lab-grown diamond company SNOW Diamonds and crafted with pearls and emerald-cut stones in garnet, white, and amber. On his hat, the F1 champion sported a vintage 1980s floral brooch from Briony Raymond with fancy white, yellow and pink diamonds. He also wore Briony Raymond diamond ear studs.
Gabrielle Union
Couples that accessorise together…look fantastic. So sayeth Gabrielle Union, who arrived wearing a Tiffany & Co platinum and yellow gold high jewellery necklace set with red spinals, Tiffany diamond stud earrings and a Tiffany ring featuring with a central diamond of over 11 carats. Her husband, Dwyane Wade, wore matching diamond stud earrings, plus a Tiffany & Co platinum and diamond brooch, and a Tiffany Eternity watch.
Anne Hathaway

Hathaway debuted a dazzling new necklace from Roman jeweller Bulgari’s latest ‘Polychroma’ high jewellery collection. Her ‘Cosmic Vault Necklace’ featured a 123.35-carat sugarloaf central sapphire framed by over 350 diamonds. She paired this with a matching high jewellery ring in platinum and diamonds with a central oval sapphire weighing 13.38 carats, plus another white gold ring set with a central oval-cut diamond.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas

‘Go big or go home’ was the order of the day from Hathaway’s fellow Bulgari ambassador, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who also debuted a new high jewellery masterpiece from the brand. Her ‘Magnus Emerald Necklace’ boasted an octagonal central emerald weighing over 200 carats, and she paired this with ‘the Emerald Reflection Ring’ featuring a cushion-cut central emerald of over 14 carats.

Her ivory-coloured ensemble boasted pearl-encrusted trousers, and a cape hand-embroidered with over 200,000 Swarovski crystals and was finished with a statement necklace with a central 20-carat emerald-cut tanzanite.
Helen Lasichanh
Pharrell Williams’ wife accompanied her husband in a full Louis Vuitton look, plus a Tiffany & Co platinum necklace set with a central diamond weighing over 9 carats.
A$AP Rocky

Dapper as always, the singer and Met Gala co-chair opted for a new platinum, diamond and pear-cut ruby necklace from Bulgari’s latest high jewellery collection, which he paired with multiple high jewellery rings from the same maker.
Additionally, he picked a Bulgari high jewellery brooch with a central peridot, diamonds and rubellites set in pink gold, two pairs of diamond stud earrings, and a limited-edition Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC watch (hidden beneath his cuffs).
His sparkly umbrella? That would be a custom piece embellished with 90-carat of real diamonds by New York fine jeweller Briony Raymond, thank you very much.
Rihanna

Much like her partner, Ri Ri stepped up in style and used the Met Gala to announced her third pregnancy. She did so wearing a high jewellery Cartier watch and pendant in 18k white gold and diamonds, a vintage Cartier watch brooch on a ribbon from 1925 crafted from platinum, white gold, onyx, enamel and diamonds, and a pair of diamond C de Cartier earrings.
Cardi B
The ‘Please Me’ singer ate, and left absolutely no crumbs in an assortment of high jewellery pieces by Messika, including a ‘Private Collection’ necklace featuring a 17-carat pear-shaped central diamond, diamond rings and white diamond ‘D-Vibes’ earrings.
Paul Tazewell

The Oscar-winning costume designer came absolutely correct, with a Wicked assortment of vintage Art Deco diamond pins adorning his outfit. All came from Fred Leighton.
Edward Enninful
Enninful charged Chicago-based fine jeweller, Catherine Sarr, with crafting “a flower for the Met Gala that celebrates beauty, joy and legacy.” The result, she says, was “Invictus: a sculptural set of gold and diamond flowers, a poetic homage to resilience. Each petal was shaped with care, each layer imbued with meaning.” The piece featured 17 carats of natural diamonds from Botswana set in gold with a black rhodium finish.
Zendaya

Just as we’d hoped, the Dune star rocked the red carpet in an elegant tailored suit and wide-brimmed hat – but kept things relatively simple when it came to her jewels. From the front, it appeared Zendaya had only chosen a pair of yellow diamond stud earrings and a diamond ring from her brand partner Bulgari but, when she turned around, she also revealed a glittering surprise in the form of a high jewellery Serpenti brooch in white gold with emeralds and diamonds.
Sarah Snook
The Succession actress, who is currently starring in The Picture of Dorian Gray on Broadway, looked picture-perfect in antique pins by Saidian Vintage Jewels and, in place of a tie, a ruby and diamond brooch by Rahaminov Diamonds. The yellow and white gold piece features an elongated cushion-shaped diamond of over 7 carats and two trilliant-cut side diamonds, and is incribed with the word ‘Tank’, in honour of the beloved pitbull-mix puppy she adopted when she was 17.
Diljit Dosanjh
The singer and actor looked simply sublime in Prabal Gurung and an incredible gemstone-studded bib necklace by Golecha Jewels, inspired by the Maharaja of Punjab, plus a Cartier watch.

Ashoka Boutique watch. And we salute you.
Joey King
Given that her fabulous Miu Miu suit was adorned with scores of shimmering, mirror-like patches, King could have been forgiven for forgoing a little extra bling. Thankfully for us, she opted to add on some white gold and diamond earrings and several statement rings from New York jeweller Gabriel & Co.
Isha Ambani
The businesswoman and heiress’ elaborate outfit, which took over 15,000 hours to make, was created by Indian designer Anamika Khanna. She adorned it with diamond jewellery from her own personal collection, including an extraordinary diamond necklace modelled on one created by Cartier in 1931 for the Maharaja of Nawanagar. Prior to this red carpet appearance, it had previously been photographed on A$AP Rocky‘s lapel for his US Vogue cover shoot.
