Meghan Markle wears $21,150 emerald necklace honouring Archie and Harry in London

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was back in London on Wednesday (7th October). She was pictured with Malala Yousafzai at Claridge’s wearing a Logan Hollowell emerald and diamond necklace valued at $21,150. This is her first known appearance in the UK capital since the Sussex’s move back to the UK from Montecito, California.

Markle was pictured wearing The Lovers Duet Diamond and Emerald Chain Necklace in yellow gold by Logan Hollowell. An approximately 1.30-carat Colombian emerald and 0.90-carat white diamond. The current retail price of the piece is $21,150.

The emerald represents their son Archie, emerald is the May birthstone representing his birthday. She was first spotted wearing it in Montecito in October 2022.The Baby Queen Water drop emerald solitaire necklace featured a pear-shaped Zambian emerald, set in gold with a solitaire halo.

Logan Hollowell is based in Santa Monica, California. Her jewellery is deeply entrenched around Californian characteristics of spirituality, the cosmos and female empowerment. All the signature lines are named after these Californian influences, namely: Kundalini, Queen, Constellation, Unity, Sacred and Wilderness. “The whole idea was, I wanted to make a woman or man dipped in the cosmos, delicate but strong, that is my whole vision of the jewellery,” she told me when she spoke to Something About Rocks in August 2022. Her flagship store is in Santa Monica, Los Angeles and she also sells her jewellery in Harrods, London.

Meghan has worn Logan Hollowell previously. The necklace was first spotted in October 2023 and recently worn in Geneva earlier this year. In October 2023 Meghan Markle she wore a $4,100 Logan Hollowell choker necklace for the first time in New York in another touching tribute to Prince Archie. And, going back to 2021, Meghan shared a sweet tribute to her two children with a $1,785 necklace featuring their star sign constellations as she marked her 40th birthday. The Duchess then wore a dainty silver necklace with the astrological signs of Taurus for Archie, who was born in May 2018, and Gemini for Lillibet, who was born in June 2021.

The Duchess appears to favour Hollowell’s designs as they’re rich in symbolism. Perhaps we’ll see the necklace on more occasions in London.

Dakota Johnson wears $124,000 diamond necklace as Taylor Swift crashes SNL

Dakota Johnson hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend wearing a $124,000 Roberto Coin Cobra diamond collar. She was joined during her opening monologue by friend Taylor Swift. Dakota Johnson, who is an ambassador for the Italian jeweller, combined the necklace with a Cento Circle of Life diamond and ruby ring with a bright red latex Versace dress from 2013.

During her opening monologue she was joined on stage by Taylor Swift, making a surprise appearance on the show. The pair recently starred together in Swift’s Patient Zero video, which debuted at the MTV VMAs which we reported on last week.

Dakota Johnson is the face of Roberto Coin, the collaboration was announced in June last year. She fronted Roberto Coin’s ‘The Art of Dreaming’ campaign. Johnson was pictured wearing pieces from Coin’s most iconic collections such as Love in Verona, Venetian Princess, Domino, Princess Flower and Venetian Medallions.

Taylor Swift wore a Cartier Unlimited bracelet and Dana Rebecca earrings as well as her eight-carat Old Mine-Cut engagement ring and wedding band. Recently there’s been a lot of speculation about Taylor Swift’s engagement band as she was recently pictured without it for the promotional pictures for the Patient Zero artwork, replacing the Old Mine-cut engagement ring Travis Kelce gave her. That ring was an emerald cut stone around four to five carats that has been valued at somewhere in the region of $100,000 to $250,000.

However, last weekend Taylor Swift was wearing her original Old Mine-cut engagement ring at the VMAs. The ring Travis Kelce gave her was back on her finger, with her wedding band.

Dakota Johnson poked fun at herself with her opening words joking that it was her birthday at midnight (she turns 37) and she was in New York’s midtown in a tight latex dress “looking for attention.”

She then joked about her love life and her break-ups with two musicians. She joked, “Some people leave concerts with merch, and I leave concerts with a 2.5 year relationship.” She then introduced Taylor Swift as “my literal therapist.”

Taylor Swift made history last night, by becoming the most successful artist in the history of the at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). The singer-songwriter took home the video of the year award for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, from her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. She also score the debut award for artist director, having conceived and directed the Ophelia music video herself.

Accepting her award, the 36-year-old dedicated it to “the ultimate showgirl”, claiming “we were all very lucky to share this planet with Dolly Parton for a time.”

Taylor’s husband Travis Kelce sadly couldn’t be at the event to witness her big win, as he and his teammates in the Kansas City Chiefs had travelled to Florida for a match against the Miami Dolphins.

But the singer made sure he was with her in spirit, by wearing her 10-carat old mine cut engagement ring with its delicately hand-engraved yellow gold band by New York designer Kindred Lubeck, and her $16,000 diamond-set gold wedding band.

Taylor added a little extra sparkle to her shimmering Tamara Ralph gown with the Etho Maria Diamond Brushed ring by Leviev Diamonds, and a bespoke, multi-cut diamond Royale ring by Forever Diamonds New York. She also wore the maker’s elaborate diamond Dangle earrings, and extra diamond studs by Anita Ko.

This latest look comes just days after Swift put aside her engagement and wedding ring stack and showcased another emerald-cut diamond ring in a promotional image to accompany her latest single, ‘Patient Zero’, which was released on September 22.

This year’s VMAs marked Taylor’s first as a married woman, and saw her nominated for an incredible nine different gongs, including Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Video of the Year, Best Direction, and Best Visual Effects.

By also scooping the inaugural MTV Artist Director Award, for her “directorial work [that] has advanced the art of music video and storytelling,” Taylor’s lifetime VMA haul has now reached a historic 33 awards, putting her ahead of the former record holder Beyoncé, who currently has 26.

Taylor Swift swaps her $1 million engagement ring for a new ring

On Friday (September 25th), Taylor Swift released the expanded edition of her twelfth studio album. The new edition The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore features four new songs from the Grammy Award winning artist. In the supplied artwork she has swapped rings in the new Patient Zero imagery for the release of the new single for an entirely new diamond ring.

UPDATE: Taylor Swift was last night photographed at the MTV VMA’s wearing her original Old Mine-cut engagement ring last night (Sunday 27th September). Following her being pictured in the new emerald cut ring on the album artwork of The Life of a Showgirl: Encore the ring given to her by Travis Kelce was back on her finger. It looks as though she wore the new ring only for the shoot.

Her engagement ring is an Old Mine cut diamond on a yellow gold band, and published estimates valued it up to $1million. People Magazine revealed that it had been created for Travis Kelce to pop the question by New York jeweller Kindred Lubeck. The New York-based goldsmith and jewellery designer specialises in unique gemstone pieces featuring delicate hand-engraving, which she sells under the label Artifex Fine Jewelry. The couple married in July this year.

Swift’s engagement ring features a large Old Mine brilliant cut diamond, weighing at least 8 carats, and a delicately hand-engraved yellow gold band. Fellow designer Maddy Sangster, of UK jewellers Heavenly London, estimated its value to be “around £500,000” (around $673,600).

Lisa Levinson, head of UK at the Natural Diamond Council commented at the time. “The choice of an antique diamond reflects an interest in story and provenance. This diamond could have had many lives and experiences before it was chosen to be their engagement ring. Many old cut diamonds have been refashioned which means their rarity increases by the year.”

The ring Swift is wearing on the new artwork for Patient Zero couldn’t look more different. It is a large emerald-cut diamond, also around 8–10 carats, with a white-metal setting, probably white gold or platinum, fourth generation gemologist Olivia Landau told Page Six Style.

Nilesh Rakholia, Founder and wedding/engagement ring expert at Abelini told us, “It’s noticeably smaller than her real engagement ring. Her actual diamond is believed to be around 10 carats, whereas this looks closer to the 4 to 5-carat mark. If this were a high-quality natural diamond, a ring of this size and style could potentially be worth somewhere in the region of $100,000 to $250,000 (£74,000 to £185,000), although you couldn’t give a precise valuation from an image alone. If it’s a lab-grown diamond or another stone being used specifically for the shoot, the value could of course be considerably lower.”

Swifties are speculating that the change may be an Easter egg as Taylor Swift is known to plant coded messages in her artwork. No one other than Swift herself knows the meaning.

Her own, highly distinctive Victorian style engagement ring is a much softer piece of jewellery set in yellow gold and holding that antique Old Mine Cut diamond. This new ring is a much more conventional modern, geometric emerald-cut solitaire. What does it all mean? Now that is a question.

Dakota Johnson recently appeared in Roberto Coin’s campaign last year. She commented at the time “I’ve always believed that jewellery tells a story—of who you are, where you’ve been, and what you love.”

The brand was founded in 2022 by art historian-turned-jeweller Cece Fein-Hughes, who has built the identity of the house around hand-enamelled signet rings. These have been inspired by folklore, fairytales and Victorian nautical tattoo iconography. Each piece is made in London workshops, with bespoke commissions forming a significant part of the business. Johnson’s jewellery was particularly alluring when set against her fragile, almost whimsical Gucci dress.

The film hits cinemas on October 2nd and is based on the bestselling novel of the same name, written by Colleen Hoover. Johnson plays a struggling writer, Lowen Ashleigh. Verity’s husband, Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett, commissions Lowen to complete the works of the injured Verity, played by Anne Hathaway.

Cece is popular with A-listers and has previously been worn by Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Cece released an Instagram post today inviting readers to shop Johnson’s look from the premiere. In January this year, Margot Robbie commissioned signet rings from Cece for her and Jacob Elordi to celebrate the release of Wuthering Heights.

Pieces are available for purchase online as well as at Liberty’s new fine jewellery store and Goop.

Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola celebrate 20 years of ‘Marie Antoinette’ wearing Cartier jewels

The star and director of Marie Antoinette, Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola, were reunited at the palace of Versailles this week to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Coppola’s standout film. Read all about it below.

The cast and crew of 2006’s mega hit Marie Antoinette were reunited at the French palace of Versailles this week to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sofia Coppola’s major hit film, plus a new exhibition about the production.

Two decades after the film’s release, its star, Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman, who played her husband Louis XVI, journeyed back to the former French royal residence to toast its milestone anniversary, and to celebrate a dedicated exhibition at the Petit Trianon that commemorates it, which is sponsored by Cartier.

The neoclassical chateau and its lush grounds were actually gifted to the young Marie Antoinette by her husband and served as her private rural retreat. It also featured heavily in key moments from Coppola’s film, providing the scenic backdrop to many emotional moments away from the rigours and attention of courtly life.

The stars all chose to wear Cartier jewels for the evening, including Coppola, who shone in a pair of high jewellery earrings; Swartzman, who opted for an onyx and diamond-spotted Panther pin on his lapel, and Dunst, who added yellow gold hoop earrings and a yellow gold Baignoire watch by the maker to her look.

At an interview held in Paris just before the event, Coppola described still feeling so much pride at the level of detail that went into her film’s production, all these years later.

“I’m so appreciative and impressed by the crew that we had, like Milena [Canonero]’s costumes and the art department,” she reminisced on camera, alongside Schwartzman. “[Award-winning production designer] K.K Barrett did an incredible job with his whole team. Just all the details that went into making the food and the flowers.”

“I still feel like it’s movie magic that all these people can work together, and we’re always rushed and doing things quickly, and somehow it all comes together. But there was such a big team and everyone was doing their detailed work so incredibly.”

The Cartier-supported retrospective will run until January 27 next year and showcases plenty of artefacts from Marie Antoinette, including its opulent costumes and accessories (the film won an Oscar for Best Costume Design at the 79th Academy Awards), and exclusive behind-the-scenes imagery captured by Andrew Durham, which can also be seen in a new book entitled Making Marie Antoinette.

The Princess of Wales wore a 1923 royal amethyst necklace that was hidden for nearly a century

The Princess of Wales wore a stunning amethyst and diamond necklace to the Royal Film Performance last night (September 22nd) that’s been owned by the Royal family for 103 years. It was given as a wedding gift from Queen Alexandra to the future Queen Mother in 1923 and then passed to Queen Elizabeth II. Now Kate has worn it.

She attended the Royal Film Performance with William, the Prince of Wales last night and it was her first film premiere in four years. The premiere raises money for The Film and TV Charity. The premiere was Tom Cruise’s new film Digger, shown at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square.

The necklace (which isn’t named) has at least four amethysts set in a diamond chain together with a large heart-shaped amethyst pendant surrounded by diamonds. Her earrings were the Collingwood pearl earrings that were worn extensively by Diana, Princess of Wales – a pearl drop with a diamond stud. The Princess wore a full length purple gown with a daring back split by Jenny Packham. Purple is the traditional colour of royalty.

Queen Alexandra originally gave the necklace to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon after she became fiancée to the Duke of York (later George VI) in January 1923. Together with all the other engagement gifts it was displayed at Buckingham Palace. Alexandra’s note gifted the piece to her future granddaughter Elizabeth. The original piece looked somewhat different to the piece that Catherine wore last night, originally it was a 1920s sautoir with seed pearls and smaller amethysts. Set in two strands it’s now been remade as one.

There’s no photograph of the Queen Mother wearing it, but she wore it in mourning after Alexandra died in 1925 and then it disappeared for another 87 years. In 2012 Queen Camilla, then Duchess of Cornwall, wore a shortened version of the necklace to the Skyfall premiere. The Queen Mother’s jewels had passed to her daughter Elizabeth II who subsequently lent Camilla the necklace, Catherine wore the shortened version last night.

The last time the Princess met Tom Cruise was at the 2022 premiere of Top Gun: Maverick. He’s known to have a good relationship with the royal couple. That night she wore Robinson Pelham’s Tsar Star diamond earrings. They cost £10,560. Now there are at least three royal women who have worn that necklace – Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, Camilla (then Duchess of Cornwall) and last night Princess Catherine.

Princess Charlene of Monaco stepped out in style to support her husband’s charitable foundation wearing a set of diamond jewels by the French jeweller Repossi.

The princess attended a lavish gala in Monaco to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, a global non-profit dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.

To accompany her long black sequinned gown, Charlene chose a set of jewels from the avant-garde French jewellery house, Repossi. She wore the maker’s Serti surVide drop earrings crafted in pink gold and set with pear-shaped white diamonds, and a selection of matching diamond Serti sur Vide rings in pink and white gold.

The glamorous event was held in the Salle Garnier of the Monte Carlo Opera House and host a sparkling assortment of starry guests alongside the royal couple, including Monica Bellucci, Richard Gere, Isabella Huppert and Eva Herzigova. Christina Aguilera, opera singer Plácido Domingo and Sister Sledge kept attendees entertained during the black tie gala, as did a fundraising auction led by prominent Swiss auctioneer, Simon de Pury.

After a fairly quiet summer, it seems royal calendars across Europe are ramping up again, especially in the UK. The Prince and Princess of Wales, in particular, have been busy attending a host of charitable events in the past few weeks to raise awareness for good causes.

Princess Catherine made a surprise appearance alongside her husband at an event in Everton football ground in Liverpool, to help launch the On Your Side project that uses sport to help open conversations about mental health. Prince William also visited Dartmoor to launch a regeneration project to support the isolated community of Princetown, which faces an uncertain future.

Earlier this month, the royal couple also dropped of their son, Prince George, at Eton school in Windsor for the start of the new school term. For the occasion, the Princess wore an affordable chain necklace by New York-based label Laura Lombardi. She has reworn the maker’s gold-plated Portrait necklace on several previous occasions, such as on a visit to Boston in 2022 and to visit a textile mill in Yorkshire in 2023.

Jonathan Bailey wore a vintage gold Omega to Burberry

Jonathan Bailey wore a vintage gold Omega to the Burberry show which closed London Fashion Week last night. The watch has an oval gold case and a plain pale dial on a gold Milanese mesh bracelet. The shape and the bracelet point to it being an Omega De Ville dress watch of the early 1970s. Omega no longer makes it, but we have had no confirmation yet from the Swiss house.

Jonathan Bailey‘s elegant look was an all black ensemble – black roll-neck sweater and black leather trousers with embroidery down the legs in Western style. The gold watch was his only pop of colour. A watch similar in style to the one Bailey wore, a 1980 Omega De Ville 29mm 191.135 Quartz Gold Roman Dial was available on the secondary market priced at around £900.

For more – read Jonathan Bailey talks Fellow Travelers and the Omega Seamaster

Bailey is one of the most photographed British actors, Vogue’s video of him arriving at the show had 182,000 likes within seven hours. He’s also a former Something About Rocks cover star – see our Jonathan Bailey cover interview here.

On the front row he was surrounded by a mix of celebrities, several with punchy timepieces – Stephen Graham wore a new Rolex Day-Date, as he chatted to his previous co-star from Snatch – Jason Statham, at the show. Skepta wore a steel watch on an integrated bracelet, possibly an Audemars Piguet but we can’t confirm the model. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, attending with Jason Statham, wore a Tiffany HardWear necklace in white gold and pavé diamonds. Romeo Beckham and Jorja Smith were also on the front row, Beckham was wearing a black Burberry anorak but we couldn’t spot what was on his wrist. The Burberry show traditionally brings out the fashion pack and is the high spot as well as the finale of London Fashion Week.

Bailey’s been spotted wearing vintage inspired pieces before. In Jurassic World Rebirth, watch fans could spot an Omega Railmaster. In the film, Bailey wears the 38 mm Railmaster 60th Anniversary edition (Ref. 220.10.38.20.01.002), a stainless steel timepiece with a black dial and brown leather strap, designed as a tribute to the original 1957 model and chosen specifically for Bailey to wear in this role. Bailey has previously told Something About Rocks how he worked with Reynald Aeschlimann, the CEO of the Swiss brand, to find the perfect watch for his palaeontologist character. Small watches are very much in vogue right now and Bailey has brought the look right to the front row of the catwalk.
