The Met Gala 2025 has been full of memorable moments – not least one from Anne Hathaway who stunned wearing a massive blue diamond necklace.
It didn’t take fans of Hathaway’s long before they started to compare it to the famous ‘Heart of the Ocean’ necklace that appeared in James Cameron’s Titanic film from 1997.
And they weren’t wrong: the huge rectangular sapphire diamond was front and centre of the stunning Bulgari creation which Hathaway teemed up alongside a fashion look from Carolina Herrera.
Hathaway wore a white dress shirt with an oversized collar. The outfit blended into a black and silver maxi skirt.

It was a big night at the Met Gala for blue diamonds all round after it was revealed that designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey has teamed up with Sotheby’s to create a one-of-a-kind brooch for the Met Gala – and it featured The Mediterranean Blue Diamond as its centrepiece.
The diamond is a 10.03-carat Fancy Vivid Blue diamond that will feature in Sotheby’s High Jewellery Sale later this month (May 13), in Geneva. The diamond’s value is estimated to be in the region of $20 million.
The Mediterranean Blue diamond was discovered in 2023 at the Cullinan Mine in South Africa, which is famous for sourcing some of the world’s most famous blue diamonds to date, including the 530-carat Great Star of Africa, the largest faceted colourless diamond that is mounted into the Sovereign’s Sceptre, part of the British Crown Jewels.
The mine also gave rise to other extraordinary blues, such as ‘The Blue Moon of Josephine’ (a 12.03 carat cushion-shaped stone that was auctioned for $48.5 million at Sotheby’s in Geneva in 2015), and ‘The DeBeers Blue’, a 15.10 step-cut blue diamond that sold for $57.5 million at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong in 2022.
Elsewhere at the Met Gala, Anna Wintour was also spotted wearing a stunning blue diamond.
It’s been a typically packed Met Gala with several standout moments. Diana Ross wowed on the red carpet wearing an 18-foot terrain adorned with crystals, while Pharrell wore a Louis Vuitton jacket adorned with 100,000 pearls.
Lewis Hamilton hit the red carpet wearing a striking jewellery look from Briony Raymond.
Colman Domingo, meanwhile, also made headlines wearing a custom Valentino look alongside some Boucheron, while a brooch specially created for the Met Gala with a diamond worth $20 million also got its first outing.
