Cannes 2026: here’s all the best watch looks from the stars in France

The 2026 iteration of the Cannes Film Festival is now firmly done and dusted. While the American films stayed far away from the biggest festival on the movie calendar, the stars did not. Everyone from Vin Diesel to Michael Fassbender put in an appearance on the French Riviera to celebrate films old and new.

As always with Cannes, as much is said about what the stars are wearing as the films they are starring in as designers look to make a splash at one of the most talked about weeks of the year. On the watch front, Cannes did not disappoint. We have the spectacular, the divine and the experimental. And that’s just Colman Domingo’s purple ensemble.

Below, we have rounded up some of the best watches that were on display during the Cannes Film Festival.

The Fast and Furious star was a surprise attendee at the Cannes Film Festival to celebrate 25 years of the crowdpleasing franchise that became a global phenomenon. One of Audemars’ more unconventional pieces, it suits the enigmatic Diesel, who is not afraid to eschew conventions such as wearing a suit on the red carpet.

Adam Driver – Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

You can’t beat a classic and it doesn’t get more classic than the Royal Oak. While the Swatch collaboration to create the Royal Pop may be leading to pandemonium in the high streets, the Royal Oak still dominates the red carpet. This openworked version shows off the technical complexity of the horology and is fitting for Driver, an actor known for taking on daring roles in films such as Megalopolis, Silence and The Last Duel.

Bella Hadid – Rolex Lady Datejust

Not many people combine a Rolex with Puma trainers but then not many people are Bella Hadid. The supermodel was untypically dressed down in a sporty Prada ensemble which contrasted with her choice for a classic gold Rolex. The Lady Datejust is the brand’s creme de la creme when it comes to their female focussed efforts.

Colman Domingo – Omega Seamaster

You can always rely on Colman Domingo to bring it with Omega. He’s been seen wearing many Speedmaster’s in the past and this understated Aqua Terra plays off nicely against his flamboyant outfit. Whenever Domingo is on the red carpet, it’s always a moment and here was no different.

Vincent Cassel – Audemars Piguet Neo Frame

Probably the most experimental watch spotted in Cannes this year, Audemars Piguet’s Neo Frame is a brand new offering from the Swiss giant and their first ever jumping hour release. The watch has no dial, instead telling the time through two apertures – one for the hour and another rotating one for the minutes. It’s a grand piece, radical and bold, and perfect for French actor, Vincent Cassel.

Sebastian Stan – Cartier Roadster

Attending the premiere of his Palme D’Or winning film, Fjord, Sebastian Stan hit the red carpet wearing a Cartier Roadster with the model having recently been brought back into production by the company. Taking inspiration from sports cars, the Roadster is one of Cartier’s more modern styles but is classical enough to complement a tuxedo.

Miles Teller – Tiffany & Co. Union Square Mechanical Watch

The Michael actor made a couple of appearances on the Croisette, both times wearing Tiffant & Co. on his wrist. While both watches are alluring, the standout is the classical Union Square Mechanical Watch which feels both modern and old school, depending on the wearer’s overall outfit.

Michael Fassbender – Cartier Tank Américaine

The German born star of Inglourious Basterds and 12 Years a Slave was on the Riviera in support of his new film, Hope, in which he stars alongside his wife, Alicia Vikander. Hitting the red carpet in an elegant tuxedo, Fassbender matched his suit with an equally luxurious Cartier Tank Américaine. Still one of the brand’s most popular and iconic watch designs, the piece exemplifies timelessness.

Vin Diesel celebrates 25th ‘Fast & Furious’ anniversary wearing an incredible timepiece

Vin Diesel surprised the Cannes Film Festival when he, along with Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster appeared on the red carpet to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Fast and the Furious.

The trio were joined by Paul Walker’s daughter Meadow and the franchise’s producer Neal H. Moritz to toast to the longevity of the series which boasts ten instalments and counting.

Diesel, who largely shuns publicity, was seen wearing the unique The Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Starwheel in white gold and black ceramic.

Retailing at around £60,000, instead of traditional hands, the Starwheel features three rotating discs that display the time in the most unique fashion.

A large watch at 41mm, the Starwheel takes its inspiration from a horological system that was invented in the 17th Century but was replaced by the standard hour and minute hands. Audemars first started using the technology in the early 1990’s and have equipped on many models since.

During the event in Cannes, Diesel paid tribute to his late friend and co-star, Paul Walker, commenting: “It’s so hard for me to watch it because there’s so many moments in this movie that you see, that I see differently. “The scene that you see, I see the moment Pablo told me he had a one-year-old daughter.”

The next Fast and Furious movie is tentatively scheduled for release in 2028.

Meanwhile, Audemars Piguet have been the talk of the watch world since they announced their unexpected and groundbreaking collaboration with Swatch.

The two Swiss giants, who have very different business plans and price points, this week announced they were teaming up to release the Royal Pop, a dramatic spin on the vaunted Royal Oak that also takes many cues from Swatch’s POP watches from the 1980’s.

If you want to get your hands on one, the time-only models start from £335 while the watches with small seconds will retail at £350. However, if you had thoughts of purchasing the whole collection, think again as Swatch are only allowing one purchase per store per day.

Select Swatch boutiques will be the only place you will be able to buy one when they go on sale on May 16 and as can be expected, the fans are already going wild with people around the globe already seen queuing outside stores.
