Exclusive: Jeweller Pacharee on accessorising The White Lotus: “I won’t be the same again!”

The last guests at The White Lotus in Thailand have finally checked out and the hotel has closed for the season (no spoilers, don’t worry!). The Thai contemporary jeweller who supplied many of the hit HBO show’s most covetable sparkles, Pacharee, talks us through how she felt seeing her designs in the latest sun-soaked series.

Pacharee-Sophie Schuemers-Rogers is now based in Zurich but the jewellery designer was born and brought up in Thailand, and travels to Bangkok regularly to visit her atelier. The daughter of renowned gem trader and cutting innovator, Gerald Vincent Rogers, Pacharee definitely has a love of great jewels in her blood. Inspired by the artistic traditions of her Thai heritage, she founded her eponymous brand in 2017, specialising in contemporary gold and pearl jewels with naturalistic textures and sculptural silhouettes.

She’s also been a fan of Mike White’s groundbreaking drama series The White Lotus since it first premiered in 2021. And though she’s no stranger to working with television series (one of her ring designs has previously featured in the Sex & The City sequel, And Just Like That), nothing could have prepared her for how she felt seeing her jewellery in the very latest episodes, which were all set on the idyllic island of Koh Samui.

I had no clue why, of course, but I was very happy as these pieces are very personal to me,” Pacharee says. (Image: Pacharee)

“I watched the show a few years back and have been a huge fan ever since. Season 2, in particular [was great],” Pacharee reveals. “I told my husband, who was sitting and watching with me, that I thought the styling was so smart. He said ‘I can see your jewelry on the show’ and encouraged me to make it happen. I [emailed] Alex Bovaird, the show’s costume designer, and luckily she adored our jewelry and came for a visit during a scouting trip to Bangkok.”

“I was so excited to meet the team. Alex, Giulia and Brian were all so sweet and watching them discuss styling ideas was just so special. I learned so much and have so much respect for them. Alex has a deep understanding of today’s luxury [clientele] and she wanted to project that reality into the show. Jewelry wise, you see a blend of big names, like Cartier, with brands like ours, which is exactly how today’s luxury shoppers style their jewellery,” she continues.

In the end, Bovaird and her team selected several of Pacharee’s signature designs to accessorise many of the show’s main characters, including pieces which are deeply meaningful for the designer. “We weren’t told which pieces were going to be on who, or when….After watching the first episode of this season, [I] was never the same again. It’s just been surreal watching my favourite show with my jewelry on it!” enthuses Pacharee.
