‘Wuthering Heights’: Margot Robbie wears bracelet with touching nod to Charlotte Brontë

Actress Margot Robbie has attended the UK premiere of Wuthering Heights wearing a replica of author Charlotte Brontë’s bracelet – check it out below.

For the premiere, which Robbie attended with co-star Jacob Elordi, Robbie wore a replica of a bracelet Brontë frequently wore which was made from the writer’s own hair.

The original was owned by Charlotte’s sister Anne and was a traditional piece of Victorian mourning jewellery. It was made from Emily and Anne Brontë’s hair, which was a traditional method used in Victorian times to remember lost loved ones.

The bracelet Robbie wore was made by Haworth’s ‘Wyedean Weaving’ which reproduced the style of the bracelet, the original of which is now 175 years old. The original bracelet is on display at the Brontë Parsonage museum in Yorkshire.

As per W Magazine, Charlotte was said to wear the bracelet “wherever she went” and was found in the Brontë home on the Yorkshire Moors.

Robbie wore a custom Dilara Findikoglu dress which was made from braided material that nodded to the bracelet’s unusual material.  Robbie also wore jewellery from Jessica McCormack, including a bespoke ring and earrings. The rope earrings were made of of garnets, diamonds and pearls. While the ring was a custom made four-carat ruby ring set in blackened gold.

Previously, Robbie has wore Jessica McCormack on the red capret at premieres – including the opening night to 2024’s Barbie movie where she wore some special heart-shaped jewellery.

Robbie also wore some vintage Boucheron brooches including the Walkyrie brooch from 1900. The yellow gold brooch featured a garnet and diamonds.

Robbie teamed this with the Assyrian Lion brooch from 1920 that included a cushion-cut garnet and diamonds.

Speaking at a Q&A at the BFI Southbank in London this week, the director of the much-anticipated adaptation of Brontë’s 1847 novel said she hoped the film would provoke a “primal response.”

Emerald Fennell, whose last two films A Promising Young Woman and Saltburn have been produced by Robbie’s company, LuckyChap, also revealed that Robbie asked her if she could play Cathy.

“I sent it to [LuckyChap] to produce, and Margot luckily asked if she might play Cathy,” Fennell told the audience at the BFI Southbank in London.

“I was very nervous to ask her, because I think we have a different relationship, and I didn’t want to put her on the spot,” she revealed. “I was like: ‘Do I go for it?’ No, I didn’t. Of course I didn’t, because she’s braver than me. She asked me.”

The film releases in UK cinemas next weekend, on February 13 in time for Valentine’s Day weekend.
