Princess Charlotte paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II yesterday at the Trooping of the Colour Ceremony as she wore a horseshoe brooch she’d worn to her Great Grandmothers funeral. The sentimental piece of jewellery was gifted to Charlotte by the late Queen. Princess Charlotte first wore this brooch, her first royal brooch while attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at Westminster Abbey in September 2022. See the story here.

The historic diamond horseshoe brooch was pinned to the front of her light blue dress. The brooch was originally worn by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in the 1920’s.

Princess Catherine of Wales wore a blue Catherine Walker dress that matched Princess Charlotte’s together with a regimental brooch of the Irish Guards, of whom she’s honorary Colonel in Chief. Last year Kate wore a pair of pearl earrings from British designer Cassandra Goad at the Trooping of the Colour.

Following his cancer diagnosis King Charles has had to retire that convention and took the salute in a carriage. It’s not expected that he will ride again. Queen Elizabeth II took the salute from her horse Burmese until the horse was retired and she then took the salute from a carriage.
Following the ceremony which takes place in the parade ground of Whitehall the monarch and his family took to the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a flyby of the Royal Air Force.
